Why two publishers

Most journals of international affairs are written from one hemisphere and read in the other. This one is edited from both. A question studied in Washington and a question studied in Brasília are not the same question, and the difference is the point.

The two institutes share the editorial board, the standards and the responsibility for what appears here.

Editorial standards

We publish balanced, objective analysis that informs without advocating. Authors write in a serious, formal register, in clear language rather than jargon, and distinguish plainly between fact, analysis and opinion.

Sources are cited and verifiable. Sensitive subjects are approached constructively and diplomatically. We do not publish partisan argument.

Every article is reviewed by the editorial team and approved by the author who signs it before it appears. An article produced with the assistance of artificial intelligence says so, above the text, before it is read.

Citation

The journal follows the Chicago Manual of Style, notes and bibliography. Each article carries its own citation, with the volume, the issue and the year, so a reader can quote it without reconstructing the reference.
