Diplomacies

Henry Kissinger’s Diplomacy remains one of the most influential interpretations of diplomatic practice within the state-centered international order that shaped world politics from the seventeenth century through the second half of the twentieth century. Yet if Kissinger were to write a comparable work examining the diplomatic institution that emerged after the period covered in his classic study, the most fitting title would very likely be Diplomacies, in the plural.
